Angry Ward 22 community members staged mass protest action at Njoli square this morning, burning tyres and blocking roads.
Protesters, who are still unhappy with the ANC’s list of ward and proportional representation candidates handed in at Calata House in King William’s Town last week, have closed all the entry points to Ward 22 (Kwazakhele).
This includes Njoli Road, Salamntu Road and Daku Road. Last week, community members from the same ward dumped faeces outside councillor Nosipho Belu’s office in protest against the list, saying they want the lists changed.
On the same day, in Ward 54, ANC members closed councillor Aaron Nyikilana’s office and disrupted work at two projects in Motherwell.
