Latest suspect in Jayde murder appears in court

The latest person to be arrested in connection with Jayde Panayiotou’s murder made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning.

Zolani Sibeko, 35, said he would appoint private attorney Louis van Rensburg to represent him.

State advocate Marius Stander said Sibeko was insisting his surname was Roxo, and the state would now have to run his fingerprints.

The case against him was postponed to Friday for Van Rensburg to be formally appointed.

Panayiotou was kidnapped and murdered on April 21 last year, allegedly at the behest of her husband, Christopher.

He stands accused alongside alleged hitmen Sizwezakhe Vumazonke and Sinethemba Nemembe.

Sibeko was linked to the alleged offence through cellphone plotting.
